Tetra Tech International Development is currently
accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a
potential Agricultural Productivity Team Leader position on an anticipated USAID-funded
agriculture program in Tanzania.
Responsibilities:
*Provide technical and operations leadership to project
activities that aim to increase access to commercially provided and
productivity-enhancing agricultural technologies.
*Manage a team of up to 10 staff focused on enabling firms
and other value chain and market systems actors to: increase access of youth to
productivity-enhancing agricultural technologies; expand the consumption of
nutritious food to address the underlying causes of malnutrition; and increase
youth access to and use of time and energy saving productivity-enhancing
agricultural technologies. To accomplish this, the team will: facilitate
greater collaboration and cooperation between private-sector seed companies,
agro-dealers, local government extension officers, and horticulture producers,
with a particular focus on youth; and increase smallholder incentives for
improved productivity and quality upgrading.
*Provide key contributions to annual work planning and
periodic technical review meetings to identify successes and to learn from and
adapt to contextual challenges.
*Provide overall quality assurance of team members’ work,
promoting operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and impact.
*Develop and expand project’s network of value chain actors
and other stakeholders engaged in the design, production, and distribution or
sales of productivity enhancing technologies.
*Contribute to performance reports, technical deliverables,
and presentations through review and analysis of activity monitoring data,
aggregation and synthesis of team inputs, and stakeholder feedback.
*Facilitate conferences, workshops, and other events to
share learning among the agriculture sector and international development
community.
Qualifications:
*Minimum 7 years’ experience in the horticulture sector
working for private sector, government, and/or donor initiatives that address
constraints, challenges, and opportunities to increase local demand for
nutritious food and improve productivity in the horticulture sector, especially
through increased access to productivity enhancing technology.
*Knowledge of lead firms, associations, and other
institutions that provide inputs and technology to Tanzania’s horticulture
sector.
*Experience managing teams of at least 5 people.
*Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field.
*Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills and
personnel and team management skills.
